Pilot-Vytar Symbiosis
Symbiosis is the process by which a human pilot connects neurally to a living Vytar ship. This connection is the foundation of every Starfall Alliance operation and what sets its pilots apart from any other military force in the universe.
The Connection Process
The first symbiosis is known as the Awakening. The pilot is placed inside the Vytar’s central chamber — an organic space that adapts to the human body. Neural filaments extend from the Vytar and connect to the pilot’s spine, building a bridge between the two minds.

Connection Levels
- Level 1 — Surface: basic motor control of the ship, navigation and primary weapons
- Level 2 — Deep: access to advanced sensory systems, shared instinctive reactions
- Level 3 — Total: temporary fusion of minds, the pilot “becomes” the ship
- Level 4 — [CLASSIFIED]: records point to a level beyond total fusion, but all data has been erased
Risks
Symbiosis is not without danger. Prolonged connections can cause:
- Identity dissociation — the pilot forgets where they end and the ship begins
- Neural dependency — without the connection, the pilot feels pain and disorientation
- Vexro resonance — at high connection levels, unknown signals are picked up
Compatibility
Not everyone is compatible with the Vytar. An estimated 12% of the human population has the neural signature needed to establish symbiosis. Of those, only a fraction survive the Awakening without permanent damage.
